This question seems to come as a result of the social constructs that have caused so many to stray from the core of Jesus’ teachings. debt that is being paid is not a sin. debt accumulated in service or out of need is not a sin - it is the byproduct of a society that has failed to care for its most vulnerable people. Debt not being a sin does not entitle anyone to forego their obligations of repayment, but to label debt as a sin is akin to victim blaming.
