Was Jesus' anger justified or excessive?
Completely justified. Even today false prophets sell their prosperity doctrine as holy and righteous yo build and justify their lavish lifestyles. Church should not be a place to sell merch or the idea that if you are poor it is God’s will, and the poor must be undeserving of help.
