154Yes, because there is no explicit commandment for married couples to have children. While being fruitful and multiplying is always cited, the devotion needed for parenting is one that should not be taken lightly. Parental responsibilities are not for everyone, and couples should discuss if they are ready, willing, and able to accept the journey of parenthood before taking on the mantle of parenthood. While selfish reasons should never guide or motivate action/inaction - we must all be mindful of where we are in our walk with the Lord before attempting major life-altering decisions that directly impact the lives of other human beings.
